Meet our providers

Dr. Aminu Mahmud, DNP, PMHNP-BC

Dr. Aminu Mahmud is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner dedicated to providing compassionate, patient-centered, and evidence-based mental health care. He treats children, adolescents, adults, and older adults, focusing on comprehensive psychiatric assessments, accurate diagnosis, and individualized treatment planning to help patients achieve improved mental wellness and quality of life.

Dr. Mahmud has been working in psychiatry since 2017. He earned his Master of Science in Nursing in 2024 and his Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from the University of South Alabama in 2026. His clinical approach combines evidence-based treatment, medication management, therapeutic communication, and patient education to support long-term recovery and stability.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Mahmud is passionate about nursing education and serves as a lecturer at Galen College of Nursing, Chamberlain University, and Denver College of Nursing. He is also actively involved in several advanced practice nursing and psychiatric professional organizations, demonstrating his commitment to professional excellence, advocacy, and the advancement of mental health care.

Dr. Nathalie Mahmud, DNP, PMHNP-BC

Dr. Nathalie Mahmud is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner dedicated to providing compassionate, patient-centered, and evidence-based mental health care. She works with adults across the lifespan, focusing on comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, accurate diagnosis, and individualized treatment plans that promote emotional wellness, stability, and improved quality of life.
Before becoming a psychiatric provider, Dr. Mahmud practiced for many years as a Registered Nurse, gaining extensive clinical experience in both inpatient and outpatient healthcare settings. She worked in medical-surgical and cardiology units at Montefiore Hospital in New York from 2009 to 2014 and at Bronx City Hospital from 2006 to 2008. She also practiced at HCA Houston Healthcare Clear Lake in Webster, Texas. From 2017 to 2022, she worked in cardiology at Kelsey-Seybold Clinic while continuing her education in psychiatric mental health.
From 2022 to 2025, Dr. Mahmud worked at West Oaks Psychiatric Hospital, where she gained valuable experience in psychiatric intake, evaluation, and mental health treatment planning for patients with a variety of psychiatric conditions.
Dr. Mahmud earned her Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) degree from the University of South Alabama in December 2024 and is completing her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree from the same university in May 2026. She is board-certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).
She is the co-founder of Etage D’ Amour Behavioral Services, where she works alongside her husband, Dr. Aminu Mahmud, to provide compassionate, culturally responsive, and evidence-based psychiatric care.
